About
My name is Reid Pierce and I am an educator at Mahindra United World College of India. I am a dual US/ Australian national and have also lived in France, Germany, Italy, Nepal, Indonesia and India. Before becoming an educator, I worked in tech startups in a variety of roles and was also a management consultant for the tech consulting firm Gartner. I am an alumnus of Harvard Graduate School of Education with am Ed.M. in Education Leaadership.
I currently have several leadership roles here at Mahindra UWC including the Professional Development Coordinator where I have been tasked with creating an in-house PD program and chair the PD committee.
I am also the Anti-Discrimination Officer and DEI lead having drafted the DEI policy and am now implementing it through the creation of a student and faculty DEI committee. I was also a House Parent and a member of the Residential Life Committee for several years and have deep experience of managing life in a residential campus. I manage 6 other faculty in our House and ensure that all matters pertaining to residential life are in order. I also teach IBDP History and ToK amongst many other roles on campus including screening and interviewing potential new faculty.
In addition to being an educator, I have a wide range of experiences from the tech startup world to management consulting to law to the public sector. All of these experiences make me a confident and capable leader that can inspire others. I was also educated in the USA, France and the UK and have lived in 7 countries so have a true cosmopolitan outlook. I am able to collaborate well with others but can also work alone when needed.
I am also motivated by the concept of the growth mindset and try to instil this view in my students and colleagues around me. I am myself a lifetime learner and strive to impart my passion for learning and growth on all of those around me. I am passionate about innovation and technology and discuss my time in the startup world with students often. I also founded MUWCI’s first ever startup lab. Here, I mentor aspiring entrepreneurs and provide them with guidance on everything from developing an idea into a business model to creating pitch decks to seeking investors.
Outside of the classroom, I have a range of interests that are helpful in a school environment from meditation to being a certified yoga instructor. I also love the outdoors and camping. I am approachable by students and have good relationships with many students which I think is key when it comes to building trust and ensuring strong social-emotional wellbeing on campus.
I have much to offer and possess an extremely dedicated and enthusiastic work ethic. I look forward to hearing from you and thank you for your time and consideration.
