About
Dear Members of the Hiring Committee,
I am writing to express my keen interest in the position of English Teacher at your school. With over two decades of experience teaching English across national and international curricula, including the A Levels and IBDP, I bring both deep pedagogical knowledge and a passion for empowering multilingual learners to thrive.
At institutions such as MIT Vishwashanti Gurukul and Indus International School, I have worked extensively with international students, including Korean and Thai learners, where I implemented inquiry-based ESL instruction grounded in IB philosophy. I have led Individual Orals, guided students on Extended Essays, and integrated Design Thinking into language learning to promote creative problem-solving and global awareness.
I am particularly proud of my work supporting students with specific learning needs. I have modified reading and writing tasks, provided one-on-one academic support, and collaborated closely with the SEN coordinator to implement individualized strategies for learners with dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning differences. I also adapt assessments to ensure fair and meaningful access to learning outcomes, ensuring that all students feel seen, valued, and capable.
Beyond the classroom, I have served as a teacher advisor, homeroom mentor, and professional development facilitator, leading sessions on curriculum planning and interdisciplinary approaches. As a Grade Lead, I’ve designed unit and lesson plans that promote student agency, while maintaining academic rigor and alignment with IB objectives. During a sudden fire emergency at Indus, I calmly led over 60 students from MYP 1–3 to safety, ensuring a full evacuation without panic. This moment reinforced my belief in proactive leadership, trust-building, and the critical role of teacher presence beyond academics. I consistently look for ways to support students beyond academics. For example, I initiated hydration reminders during peak summer months—an idea that was not only implemented school-wide but also appreciated by parents and acknowledged by leadership. I believe these small acts of care build lasting trust with families and reinforce the importance of community in education.
I resonate deeply with your school’s emphasis on holistic, values-driven education. I believe in cultivating both language fluency and global empathy through student-centered, differentiated instruction. I would be honoured to contribute to your mission of shaping confident, articulate, and internationally minded learners.
Please find my CV attached for your kind consideration. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how my experience and educational philosophy align with the goals of your esteemed institution.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Warm Regards
Janet Thomasraje
