Job description

Role & Responsibilities

Academic & Curriculum:

  1. Teach Telugu across the school as per the assigned grades and curriculum.
  2. Plan and deliver engaging Telugu lessons aligned with the prescribed curriculum.
  3. Develop students’ proficiency in Telugu language, grammar, vocabulary, reading, and writing.
  4. Promote appreciation and understanding of Telugu literature, culture, and heritage.
  5. Prepare lesson plans, worksheets, question banks, study materials, and other academic resources.

Language Development & Student Learning:

  1. Develop students’ communication skills through reading, writing, speaking, and listening activities.
  2. Encourage students to develop a strong vocabulary and command of Telugu grammar.
  3. Introduce age-appropriate Telugu literature, poetry, stories, and creative writing.
  4. Use interactive and activity-based teaching methodologies to make language learning engaging.
  5. Support students in developing confidence in using Telugu in academic and everyday contexts.

Assessment & Student Support

  1. Conduct and evaluate class tests, periodic assessments, examinations, and other assessments.
  2. Analyse student performance and identify learning gaps.
  3. Provide remedial and enrichment support based on individual student needs.
  4. Prepare students for school-level and board examinations, wherever applicable.
  5. Maintain accurate academic and assessment records.
  6. Provide regular feedback to students and support their overall language development.

Co-Curricular & Cultural Activities

  1. Encourage student participation in Telugu-related competitions, cultural programmes, literary activities, and celebrations.
  2. Support school events through Telugu speeches, anchoring, poetry, drama, storytelling, and other language-based activities.
  3. Promote awareness and appreciation of Telugu language, literature, traditions, and cultural heritage.
  4. Contribute to the planning and execution of language and cultural activities across the school.

Professional Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with the Languages Department and other faculty members for academic planning.
  2. Participate actively in departmental meetings, school events, workshops, and professional development programmes.
  3. Maintain lesson plans, student records, assessment documentation, and other academic requirements.
  4. Follow school policies, academic standards, and classroom management practices.
  5. Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative learning environment.

Preferred Candidate Profile

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Telugu or a relevant discipline from a recognised university.
  2. B.Ed. preferred/required as per applicable norms.
  3. Prior experience teaching Telugu in schools is preferred.
  4. Candidates with experience teaching Telugu across multiple grade levels will be preferred.
  5. Strong command of Telugu language, grammar, literature, reading, and writing.
  6. Good understanding of age-appropriate language teaching methodologies.
  7. Ability to engage students through interactive, creative, and activity-based learning.
  8. Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
  9. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  10. Ability to work effectively with students of different learning levels and age groups.
  11. Experience in reputed schools or international/CBSE school environments will be an advantage.
  12. Passion for Telugu language, literature, culture, and holistic student development.
